An Introduction...

Welcome to my new blogspot...and to start, a little about my journey here...

I have a background in costume design and I have been making dolls for many years. My recent creations have been cloth dolls inspired by antique dolls and my family history (another of my favourite pastimes). I also love creating anything with fabric and I'm enjoying experimenting with different styles and designing unique items.

In this blog I will share doll info, tips and tricks that I have learnt over the years and also pics and even a few patterns, so please check back often to see what's new....

Primitives...

A few of my primitive dolls and a little about them...
One of my favourites is 'Sarah Pilgrim', she is made in tea stained calico and has a pinch stitched nose and painted face, hair and boots. Her clothes are simple in style and made from printed cotton, calico and vintage lace.

Another of my favourites is little 'Emmy Lou' made in calico and then painted. She has pure rowan wool hair  and her dress is printed cotton.
'Honeybee' is a raggedy doll with a very simple but charming face, she has pure wool hair and a cotton print Angel suit.

'Lula May' was one of the first primitive dolls I created and still a firm favourite, she is made in painted calico with painted face, pure wool hair and her clothes are printed cotton.
